Our Dojo acknowledges its duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, and we are committed to ensuring excellent safeguarding practices that reflect statutory responsibilities and government guidance that comply with best practices within Karate. Our policy recognises that the welfare and interests of children are paramount in all circumstances and it aims to ensure that regardless of age, ability/disability, gender reassignment, race, religious belief, sex, sexual orientation, and socio-economic background of all children. We acknowledge that some children, including deaf and disabled children or those from Black, Asian and minoritiz,ed ethnic communities, can be particularly vulnerable to abuse, and we accept the responsibility to take reasonable and appropriate steps to ensure their welfare.

Sport England tells us that achieving the Safeguarding Code 'Mark' in Martial Arts helps clubs to demonstrate that they have reached and maintained good Safeguarding standards. It also allows parents and family members to make informed decisions when selecting a Martial Arts club for their child.
The Martial Arts Safeguarding Code was developed through close consultation between Sport England and representatives from various Martial Arts Governing Bodies, as well as those with years of expertise in developing good Safeguarding practices. Members who wish to raise concerns to be addressed outside of the Dojo may use the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) below:
